The Easter egg hunt is a time honored tradition which provides entertainment to both children and adults. 1. White House Easter Monday Egg Roll

This is a tradition which was begun by President Rutherford Hayes in 1878. Although it has been canceled a few times due to war, the tradition has continued up to the present day. Attendance is now determined by a lottery system, and 30,000 lucky children get to hunt for Easter Eggs on the White House lawn. There are also many other activities like face-painting, story-telling, music, food, sports, and games. In 2010, the theme of the White House hunt is "Ready, Set, Go", and it is part of Michelle Obama's project to teach kids about the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.

2. The Garrison Egg Hunt in Homer, Georgia

For 50 years, the Garrison family has single-handedly provided the small town of Homer, GA with an annual spectacular hunt. In the 80's they were officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest Easter egg hunt in the world, although their record has since been broken. However, they are still the world's largest hunt of REAL eggs, with at least 72,000 real eggs. This number is usually matched by an equal number of plastic eggs for a hunt of epic proportions.

3. Easter Egg Hunt of Stone Mountain Park in Georgia

What is it about Georgia and their hunts? In 2006, Stone Mountain Park hid an astonishing 301,000 eggs for visitors of the theme park to find. Over 10,000 people participated in this egg hunt. Some of them found special eggs which contained coupons for free DVDs.

4. The Cypress Gardens Adventure Park Easter Egg Hunt

This was the largest hunt ever recorded, with more than half a million eggs. It took almost 10,000 people only an hour to find all the eggs. Hidden inside one of the eggs was a full scholarship to one of Florida's local colleges.
